LIke if shooting people works?
In the U.S. 3,700 teenagers were shot in the last year.
The U.K. system isn't perfect but copy American gun logic is not the answer
mike reed, Stornoway, Scotland
My daughter was running to her rental unit. Three men about 18 were bicycling behind her. One rode next to her and wacked her from behind. Before he could do anything else, she had a firearm pointed at him with a laser sight. In England she would have been a victim.
David Mon, Laurel, USA
I'm 19,from Yorkshire. Our country is in desperate need of a government which actually works in reducing gun crime and killings on our streets.Since the 80s every year gets worse and worse. In the end there will be an epidemic of small local civil gun wars by young people.Everyone needs to WAKE UP
Sean Brown, Selby, North Yorkshire
In Nevada, we would just shoot the attacker with our concealed pistol.
So sorry to hear about the attacks, and the useless measures police and your government take to disarm the citizens of your country while the thugs roam free to cause havoc.
God bless the queen!
John, Reno, USA
Mike- Pointed knife bans are not the answer. How about actually punishing the little perps. Give them a good thrashing!
Pointed knives are essential for many tasks. Keep your rounded knife for bread cutting....You must be a socialist. I am coming to take your knitting needles!
John, Reno, USA
by nature people will find a way to harm each other. so go ahead and ban guns and knives. then to protect the public go ahead and ban hammers, rope, alcohol, and anything else that could hurt someone. where does it end. you cannot fix the problem without first stopping the issue which is causing it.
steve, los angeles,
In some form or another, this problem has always been with us. Am I the only one who remembers Teddy Boys?
Barbara, TN, USA
I was attacked in an unprovoked attack recently and suffered a facial fracture off Edgware Road in London.
DO NOT walk around alone at night - where there are people there is a much better chance of getting home safely. This applies whether you are male or female.
JC, London, UK
yet they still have pointed knives on sale. HOw often do you need to use the pointed end of a knife? Its the blade edge you cut with. I think all knifes should be made without the pointed end as no cooking knife needs to have a point. YOu're only cutting with it not puncturing.
mike, london, uk
young people carry knives because they feel they are not protected enough against others who carry a knife with the intention to murder. It's a viscious circle and its sad that young people don't feel protected enough by the police to feel safe walking the streets in London.
bess, kent,
Disgusting, really really sad and waste of life. The streets should be manned 24 hours by the Police especially the council estates and poverty stricken areas where crime is the most, of course one would not find violent crime in rich areas.
British Government WAKE UP AND SMELL THE ROT TIME IS
UP.
Yael Bhagwandas, West Palm Beach, USA
Gang culture: socio/economically deprived young people think the only way to get respect is to use violence to intimidate. It's not all import-violence. As an ex-pat from the states I can't compare this violence to anything we're used to. It's an urban problem. It's also fixable. PARENTING. try it.
Ashlee, London, UK
Now in our cuddly cosmapoiton London its not safe for our teenage children !! Wake Up UK and tell it as it is !!
Fact is this dispicable culture has been imported on a large scale, what next the crips and the bloods ?
It does not affect Labor ministers whose kids all live in nice areas.
Paul, London, UK
Instead of employing CSO's that the public have no respect for .We should increase the numbers of real Police Officers and flood the streets, It worked in New Y ork
martin, Reading, Berkshire
I still return to the family law columns on this as it is the lack of parental guidance, some from overstreached single parents & the ultimate cost to kids who have no respect and seem lost in society. What is it they are looking ofr have they got asperations?more likely they live for now & so what!
Dave Farmer, Broxbourne, England
Being the mother of two girls (24 & 18) my advice would be that kids should'nt be out alone at night, stay with your friends and do not walk home alone.
Vicki, DeKalb, U.S.A.
Tribal warfare with a different slant - they are mostly British.
R Bingham, Lauzun, France
No they are not victims of racists. They are victims of a broken society that is now morally and fiscally bankrupt under New Labour. UK RIP.
S Patel, Melbourne, , Australia
Are most of the teenagers in London killed victims of racists as most of them have foreign sounding names. Is London full of white racists?
Juan, Alicante, Spain
